Coursebox: An AI Tutor for Every Learner – Personalised, Always Available, Built Into the Course

Brief

We built an AI tutoring system that lives inside each Coursebox course, trained on that course’s specific content. Learners can ask questions at any point, get instant answers grounded in what they’ve been taught, and keep moving without waiting for a human instructor to respond. This capability was a key part of the product suite that helped Coursebox close a $750K seed round.

Problem

Online learning has a completion problem. Learners start courses with good intentions and real goals, then hit friction, a concept that doesn’t click, a gap in their understanding, a question with no obvious answer, and stop. Without someone to ask, that friction compounds. Human instructors can’t be available around the clock for every learner on every course, forums and comment sections help at the margins but don’t provide the immediate, personalised response that actually unblocks someone mid-lesson, and generic AI assistants can answer broad questions but have no context about the specific course content a learner is working through. Coursebox needed a tutoring layer that was specific, immediate, and scalable.

Solution

We built a course-aware AI tutoring system that integrates directly into each course on the Coursebox platform. The tutor is trained on the specific content of the course a learner is taking, so its answers are grounded in exactly what that course covers, not generic web knowledge. Learners interact with the tutor through a conversational interface embedded in the course, asking questions about concepts they don’t understand, requesting explanations in different terms, or checking their understanding before moving on. Course creators don’t need to build or configure the tutor manually, it’s generated automatically from the course content as part of the Coursebox publishing workflow.
